Accessibility

Floriade will be a unique experience for all. In order to realise this aim, the project group “Toegankelijke Floriade 2012“(Accessible Floriade 2012) has been active since 2007. Members of the group represent the Gehandicaptenraad Venlo, Seniorenraad Venlo, Versterking Cliënten Participatie, and Landelijke Stichting Groen en Handicap. The group also includes a representative of the local authorities in Venlo. The aim of the group is to make Floriade as accessible as possible in every respect so that people with a functional limitation can still participate in the “Floriade Experience”.

One of the companies advised by “Toegankelijke Floriade 2012”’ about the infrastructure of the park is the main contractor ARCADIS. This means that the needs of less able guests are taken into account from an early stage of construction. Via the Special Provisions – which are part of the general regulations of the exhibition -  participants are informed of the guidelines applied by Floriade to accessibility.  Participants can also be informed by an ITS certified inspector (international symbol of access).
In the run up to the opening in 2012, Floriade will naturally inform visitors and participants about all the aspects of accessibility.

Floriade must become a platform for integral accessibility and act as an example for other projects in the future.
