Floriade’s Managing Director meets Danish Crown Princess
30 August 2011During the opening ceremony of the Garden Living Fair in Copenhagen, the largest Danish garden event, an official meeting took place between Crown Princess Mary of Denmark and Paul Beck, Managing Director of the World Horticultural Expo Floriade 2012. Topics of conversation included Floriade and the expo's impact on horticulture and tourism.
Paul Beck has extended a personal invitation to Crown Princess Mary to visit Floriade in Venlo in 2012. The Crown Princess thanked Paul Beck kindly for his invitation and indicated that she would seriously consider a visit to the event. Paul Beck: "Meeting Crown Princess Mary is highly important to Floriade. Being able to speak to an important member of the Danish Royal Family, who is also a garden devotee, will boost Floriade's promotion in Denmark and Scandinavia."
Floriade expects 80% of its visitors to come from the Netherlands and Germany and 20% to be from other countries. The event's promotion in countries including the United Kingdom, France and also Scandinavia is executed in close cooperation with the Netherlands Board of Tourism & Conventions (NBTC). For the year 2012, the Board has chosen the theme "Holland Naturally", in which Floriade will play the leading role.
Paul Beck gave a presentation on Floriade at the official opening of the Garden Living Fair. He visited the event together with Titti Lagerfeldt, Director of NBTC's Stockholm office and Hans Pieter Sprokkreeff, acting Chef de Poste of the Dutch Embassy in Denmark.
Titti Lagerfeldt: "The Netherlands offers more than just tulips and Floriade 2012 allows us to focus our promotion of the Netherlands in Scandinavia on a wider scope. Floriade 2012 enables us to present the Netherlands as a major horticultural authority".
Hans Pieter Sprokkreeff of the Dutch Embassy adds: "It is marvellous that so much Dutch expertise is presented at this event in a manner which is so inspiring to Danish visitors. Every single stand displays a glimpse of the Netherlands".
