Participants Tropical Treasures sign contract

Tropical Treasures is an enormous tropical greenhouse spanning 1,700 m2 on the Education & Innovation themed zone. The plants and exhibits on show here come from countries including Thailand, Kenya and Mexico, but also from our own country. The greenhouse contains luxuriant tropical vegetation: it is the Floriade jungle.

The champagne corks popped during the extremely well-attended official signing of the contract between the Floriade and the many organisations who will be contributing to this 'tropical treasure trove' today. Managing Director Paul Beck spoke of a significant and particularly special moment. ''It is just amazing to see how this fantastic form of cooperation came about. With more than 30 regional and national organisations, and also with a number of participating countries, we have arrived at an incredible concept. We are currently in a construction phase", explains Paul Beck.

After the festive celebration and presentation given by chief designer Jean Henkens - the renowned landscape architect at Center Parcs - the guests visited this exceptional glass structure.

Tropical Treasures is set to be an astounding experience for children too. They can go in search of the King of the Jungle in this greenhouse by deciphering secret codes, solving puzzles and completing tasks. Three different tribes live in the tropical treasure trove at Floriade. Each tribe has its own customs and rituals which the children have to get to know and use in order to find the King of the Jungle!

Construction of the greenhouse is in full swing and good progress is being made. After Floriade has finished, ownership of the trees and plants will be taken over by Center Parcs, so that this greenery can move into a new environment to flourish further.
