Bee for the World

Experience life as bee.

Bees are incredibly important. As pollinators of the plant world, bees promote biodiversity, and as pollinators of fruit and vegetables they have a key economic role to play. And because a large part of our food production depends on pollination, bees are vital to us humans.

This is the message the Association of Dutch Beekeepers wants to put across at its pavilion at Floriade. The pavilion explores the relationship between humans and bees and is an experience for the whole family. A place where nature and culture meet. Visitors will experience the pavilion, which is divided into various zones, through the eyes of a bee.

On entry they will find out about the importance of pollination and the bee’s relationship with humans. They will then literally walk with their noses in the flowers and will then ascend up a level and experience tree blossom at eye level. The visit concludes with the beehive experience. Dark, buzzing bees and information about life in a beehive. There will also an opportunity to buy bee products.

The pavilion, which is on two levels, is situated in a garden shaped like a flower. The garden contains bee-friendly plants, fruit and vegetables to highlight the importance of bees as pollinators.

All the materials used will be recycled after Floriade. The pavilion and the trees and plants will be repurposed.
