The pavilion will wrong-foot visitors constantly

In the ERUTAN pavilion everything revolves around recycling, innovation and sustainability. There will be a building made of straw bales and a collection of ERUTAN products.

Grass 'wallpaper' on the walls, tomato plants growing in a substrate made of ground-up carpet. This mixture of natural materials in cultivated applications will constantly wrong-foot visitors to the pavilion. What looks built will turn out to be grown, and what looks natural will turn out to be manufactured, and vice versa.

Visitors will be able to see, smell and feel the results of the innovations in various stages on the walls, floor and roof. A series of rooms will provide the setting for welcoming guests, holding presentations and experimenting with new product innovations. On the roof, visitors will be able to admire the view and see tomato plants growing on an ERUTAN carpet substrate.

The material that ERUTAN uses invites transformation. Natural products become consumer goods and are easily transformed into a different product or returned to nature later on. This ERUTAN principle also forms the basis for the Floriade Pavilion.

Once it has served its purpose in the summer of 2012, all the materials will be reused elsewhere.
