MUSIC AND THEATRE EVERY DAY

At Floriade you can be taken by surprise by music and theatre at any time of the day. Literally, because the performers will be moving around the park on a mobile pedal-powered stage, popping up suddenly in places where you least expect them. Every day we will be presenting a wide ranging programme packed with fascinating world music. Troupes and bands from countries as diverse as Indonesia, Hungary, Togo, Turkey and Romania will be treading the boards in the park. Among others, Floriade is working on this event with Tilburg-based Mundial Productions, well-known for their annual Festival Mundial.

The internationally-renowned theatre group Close-Act will be entertaining the public with street theatre the way you rarely get to see it. The Balcony Players, an international band with members from the Netherlands, Belgium, Peru and the USA, will be performing in July. This mix of cultures is also expressed in their music, which is best described as an energetic, happy blend of Gypsy and Klezmer music. Percus Nomades is a percussion group from Benin in Africa. Percussion, but with a difference: because the trio not only uses drums but also their own bodies to produce the African rhythms. A special combination of music and theatre! Trio Strong consists of three highly experienced Dutch musicians: a trumpeter, a guitarist and a singer. They play "happy swing" and have a repertoire of songs from musicals, cartoon themes and jazz from the 1920s. Every Floriade day ends with the Floriade Goodbye: no fewer than 180 Limburg wind and brass bands will be taking part in Floriade and will play you a farewell concert as you head for the exit.
