Floriade Show
The Floriade Harvest Show will be a big, spectacular show with an exciting mix of music, theatre, dance and acrobatics. The show will be staged daily as the final show of the day in the Floriade Theatre, and will be just under 30 minutes long. As the title suggests, the show will revolve around the theme of "Harvest Time". A theme that not only relates directly to horticulture: harvest time is also an important time in the lives of a large part of the world's population, and has been the subject of plays and dances since time immemorial. The Floriade Harvest Show promises to be packed full of nail-biting acrobatics, world music and traditional and modern dance. It will be a fantastic spectacle for young and old alike.
The Floriade Harvest Show will be performed by young musicians, acrobats and dancers from developing countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America. Floriade is producing this special project in collaboration with the United Cultures for Development (UCD), which provides training for young people, many of them slum dwellers, to be entertainers. Floriade invests in people. And that also means investing in sustainability.
In November 2011 Mundial Productions, the production company behind the Floriade Harvest Show, travelled to Nairobi to put the show together and rehearse with the performers.
The Floriade Harvest Show performers will also be holding acrobatics workshops for children in the park.
